Marilyn Schacht is a trusted community and education leader running to strengthen the future of Crete Public Schools through experienced, principled, and forward-thinking leadership. With more than 17 years of public service and leadership experience across local and state boards, Marilyn has dedicated her work to expanding access to education, strengthening community systems, and helping families and youth prepare for long-term success.

Marilyn believes strong schools are built through strategic vision, responsible governance, and authentic community partnership. Her leadership is guided by transparency, data-informed decision-making, and a steadfast commitment to putting students first while also respecting educators, families, and taxpayers. She is focused on solutions that protect educational quality, maintain fiscal responsibility, and create sustainable opportunities for future generations.

Elba Iris Nazario

Elba Iris Nazario was born and raised in Puerto Rico. In 1985, she moved to Chicago, Illinois, where she lived until relocating to Hastings two years ago. She has always felt a strong calling to serve her family, her church, and her community.

Her moral compass, along with a deep sense of justice and compassion, guides her decision-making. She values community and strives to build consensus when making decisions that impact others.

Elba believes in the importance of community, open dialogue, and working together to identify shared challenges and develop meaningful solutions.

Omaha | Douglas County Treasurer

Christian Espinosa Torres

Christian Espinosa Torres is a candidate for Douglas County Treasurer with 20 years of experience in government and 15 years in economic development. He currently serves as Assistant Director of the City of Omaha’s Human Rights and Relations Department, where he works to strengthen community trust, improve access to services, and ensure government is responsive and accountable. Throughout his career, Christian has managed public programs, overseen budgets, and partnered with businesses and community organizations to expand economic opportunity. His work has focused on supporting small businesses, promoting responsible growth, and making sure public resources are used efficiently and transparently. A dedicated community leader, Christian has served on multiple boards and advisory committees, bringing people together to address local challenges and improve quality of life. As Treasurer, he will prioritize fiscal responsibility, clear communication, and making it easier for residents to understand and meet their tax obligations. He holds a degree in Economics and is bilingual in English and Spanish, bringing a practical, community-centered approach to managing public resources and serving Douglas County.

Mayra Piedrahita

Mayra is a bilingual Latina immigrant, mother, former service member, and community advocate running for the Learning Community Coordinating Council, Sub council 5 (South Omaha & Bellevue). Her professional work centers on supporting families where learning begins, at home, by addressing the environmental, health, and stability factors that directly impact student success. Through years of hands-on service, she has seen how housing conditions, access to resources, and family stressors shape attendance, behavior, and educational outcomes.
