On Friday February 28th, the Nebraska Commission on Latino-Americans had the pleasure to join the City of Crete in celebrating their recent certification, becoming the very first "Welcoming City" in the state of Nebraska. In recognition of all the hard work that went into making this certification possible, Commissioner Marilyn Schacht and the City of Crete organized a celebratory event! This event gave several organizations, including our own, the opportunity to host booths and interact with thriving Crete community and join in on the excitement. We were honored to have our very own Executive Director Maria Arriaga, share some congratulatory words on behalf of the Commission. It means so much to all of us here at the Commission to see Crete undergo this process and we hope Crete's success functions as an inspiration for the rest of Nebraska's cities!
