Hi! My name is Stephanie Telles-Vega, and I’m a student at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln studying Mechanical Engineering and Business Administration, with minors in Architectural Studies and Spanish. I’m originally from the Omaha area, and my family is from Jalisco, Mexico. I enjoy finding ways to connect with and support my community through the Barrientos Scholarship Foundation, serving as President of Define American at UNL, and contributing to the Daily Nebraskan. I’m also passionate about advocacy and research, and I previously participated in NASA’s Nationwide Eclipse Ballooning Project through NASA Nebraska.
I look forward to contributing to the team, learning more about Nebraska’s Latino history, and continuing to find meaningful ways to share the stories of our communities. During my internship, I’m excited to help develop our historical archiving and records-classification program, support the creation of the first-ever Spanish-language tours at the Nebraska State Capitol, and assist with additional Commission activities and initiatives.
