On Monday, November 3rd, the Nebraska Commission on Latino-Americans proudly partnered with El Centro de las Américas to host a special GED Graduation Ceremony in Hearing Room 1524 at the Nebraska State Capitol in Lincoln. The event honored the dedication and accomplishments of Latino students who earned their General Educational Development (GED) diplomas, an inspiring milestone marking new opportunities in education and career advancement.

Family members, educators, and community leaders gathered to celebrate the graduates’ achievements. The ceremony featured remarks from Nebraska Commission on Latino-Americans Executive Director Maria Arriaga, El Centro de las Américas Executive Director Romeo Guerra, and other distinguished guests who praised the graduates for their perseverance, commitment, and belief in the power of education.

For decades, El Centro de las Américas has served as a cornerstone for Latino families in Lincoln, providing educational support, workforce training, and community resources. The Commission is proud to have partnered with El Centro in recognizing these remarkable individuals and their inspiring achievements.
